Beverly Wood, one of Europe’s top Space Clearing practitioners, joined us in a ceremony to eliminate any negativity that may have been lurking in our new headquarters.

What’s more, together we created a vibrant, balanced environment that will improve the quality of our working lives and enhance our mission to make Barefoot Living an iconic brand that is loved and admired around the globe.

Space Clearing? Any one of the two million people who have bought Karen Kingston’s books on the subject will know exactly what it’s all about. Space Clearing is based on the principle that everything that ever occurs in a building gets absorbed into the fabric of the building. Energy residues build up, with repetitive patterns becoming even more deeply imprinted.

Sounds fanciful? Well, ask yourself how often you have entered a room and thought You could cut the atmosphere with a knife? We all have customers or suppliers who might be really great people but whenever you visit their premises, a leaden weariness descends the moment you go through the door. It seems to infect everyone working there. And we all have customers or suppliers that, when we enter their offices, we instantly feel invigorated, creative, alert.

Space Clearing, then, is a highly specialized branch of feng shui that works at even deeper levels to clear and consecrate a building’s energies. Beverly’s consultation took the form of a simple and colourful ceremony, using consecrated Balinese bells. (By the way, Beverly is a very practical, down to earth, successful architect).

Such ceremonies exist in other cultures, but all with a similar objective. Only last year our webmaster – an ‘old school’, pinstripe suite, inveterate sceptic – was invited by a successful entrepreneur to the official opening of his 12th Subway franchise.

Rather than a traditional opening, it took the form of a blessing conducted by a Seikh priest. Our web man was surprised to find the whole thing a fascinating experience. He felt a palpable change in the atmosphere, with everyone clearly revitalised and re-focused.

Back to Barefoot Park. I am delighted to report that our massive rebuilding work is well under way, our team in place and – most importantly – we now enjoy a harmonious, vibrant working environment where everyone is highly motivated to succeed. Watch this space!
