Secret Millionaire Dawn Gibbins Talks RecyclingGreen and Glamorous
From recycling thousands of beer bottles through to a complete manufacturing plant, the award-winning businesswoman Dawn Gibbins MBE - a member of Vince Cable’s newly appointed Entrepreneurs’ Forum and champion of sustainable corporate culture - gives a fascinating insight into being ‘green and glamorous’ in the latest podcast from office design specialists, Morgan Lovell.
Known to millions of people as a Secret Millionaire following her appearance on the Channel 4 show, Dawn describes how her business career started to be influenced by green issues more than 10 years ago in the podcast.
Dawn also talks about how her team at the industrial and commercial flooring company Flowcrete – which she sold in 2008 after building it up from an initial start-up to a multi million pound international business – led calls for a greener approach, which became embedded in the company’s culture.
Dawn said: “Products supplied all over the world included a floor that contained recycled mirrors and recycled glass instead of natural aggregate and wow, what beauty that created. We were able to deliver something green and glamorous. “I think it is so much easier now for businesses to be switched on to recycling. “If business’s still aren’t recycling yet then their employees should be making them do it.”
A Carbon Trust ambassador, Dawn’s work has seen her achieve a wealth of accolades including the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year and SHE International Businesswoman of the Year titles.
Since the sale of Flowcrete, Dawn has taken a more active role supporting good causes and helping secure their futures by injecting some entrepreneurial spirit into their day-to-day activity through her Barefoot Foundation.
This podcast is the sixth in the Green Office series, produced bi-monthly by office fit out specialists Morgan Lovell.
