Around 150 of Lancashire’s leading business ladies - entrepreneurs, bankers, movers and shakers - were motivated and inspired at the annual Women Mean Conference at the Camelot Conference Centre, 15th May. And Dawn Gibbins MBE was there to set the tone.
Her theme - Achieving Global Success revealed the extent to which the principles of Feng Shui transformed Dawn's successful company Flowcrete into a stunningly successful international player.
"One of the guiding doctrines in Feng Shui is the need to eliminate clutter and in 2004, that's exactly what we did at Flowcrete," explains Dawn. "We embarked on a major rationalisation of our many brands around the world, right down to a single brand with strong values. We also dramatically pruned our product set. The rest is history, with Flowcrete becoming the world leader in its field."
The conference now in its 6th was also addressed by Lynne Franks, pioneering PR guru who was the inspiration for the hit TV series ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ and Baroness Margo Grimshaw, hailed as the undisputed ‘Queen of Clubs’ and the one who gave Sir Bob Geldof his first ‘gig’.
Dawn also unveiled plans for next global success - Barefoot. "For Thousands of years the Masai tribes of Kenya have walked their lands barefoot," says Dawn. "They know that they connect with their world through the soles of their feet. And that's what Barefoot Seamless Flooring will be all about - a range of flooring that brings the outside in, offering all the tactile thrill of walking barefoot in the 'great indoors'.
