Flowcrete Chairman Joins Government Minister for Manufacturing Review
Flooring guru Dawn Gibbins MBE brought some sparkle to an event marking the success of UK manufacturing at the House of Commons.
Dawn, the chairman of Flowcrete Group plc and a former Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year, was invited to join the Rt. Hon. Stephen Timms MP, Minister of State for Competitiveness, for the launch of the Manufacturing Advisory Service’s (MAS) Annual report.
The reception proved to be a fitting end to yet another successful year for MAS - a manufacturing programme which, in the past year alone, has added £143 million of extra value to MAS-assisted companies, bringing the cumulative five-year total to an impressive £367million.
At the event, the Minister also discussed plans for MAS in 2008, including a range of initiatives to continue supporting UK manufacturing, including skills development, supply change efficiencies and improvements in energy and waste.
As National Ambassador for MAS, Dawn was well placed to set the scene - her own company Flowcrete – which has its headquarters in Sandbach, Cheshire - has seen £6 million of value added as a result of support from the service in the last four years.
Dawn said: "For too long, manufacturing has been seen as a poor relation in the economy, yet it has some very innovative companies involved in very exciting projects.” |
